As a stockbroker, you would give advice to your clients according to your expertise and tell them how they can gain the most out of each stock they purchase. It is your analytical skills and your knowledge in the stock market that would determine if they made the right investment or not. Your credentials are banked on the accuracy of the predictions that you make. It would be in the best interest of your customer if your focus is not on the commission you gain from each of his transactions, but how much he gains regardless of how much you might loose. Your career will greatly rely on the integrity you maintain and the trust you gain from your customers, because their decisions are based on the information and the advice you give.
Openings in Stock Broking firms
Working for a brokerage firm, you have choice of various careers.
If you like identifying new clients, interacting with them and advising – you can become a Relationship Officer / Relationship Manager. As you gain more expertise about market, client acquisition and advisory you can lead a team of Relationship Managers as a Senior Relationship Manager. If you like to play with market’s bulls and bears – then you can start the career as a Dealer who trade on behalf of clients, which eventually leads you to position of Senior Dealer (a mix of advisory and trading profile). There are host of other positions to make your career like Analyst (Technical OR Fundamental), Back Office Executive, Depository Incharge, Demat, Franchisee Relationship Manager, Compliance Manager, Stock Broking Audit etc.
